I was born on the Canadian prairies (well, not on the prairies but in a hospital) and have lived mostly in Saskatchewan. I don’t have a deep burning love of the prairies; there are many places in the world that I would like to try to live in, but we are waiting for the children to leave home so we don’t need to uproot them. They have started to uproot themselves (one gone, one to go!), so the opportunity for change is getting closer. This has been a great place to raise our family, and we do get killer sunsets, but there is a lot of adventure waiting to happen elsewhere that’s got our name on it. In my heartest of hearts, I think I need more trees and a mountain or two.
I learned to knit as a Brownie, but didn’t get hooked until I bought a Bond knitting frame about fifteen years ago. A few years of being banished to the basement with the Bond brought me full circle to real needles again, and finding My People at Prairie Lily Knitting here in Saskatoon has only fuelled the fire. I knit a bit of everything (except socks; for some reason I just don’t like to knit socks) and try to do some of my own designs periodically. I like to read about knitting, and wool, and colour, and don’t care much for sports or business. The man in my life is somewhat bewildered by this fibre fascination, but it’s hard to explain it to him. I knit him a scarf or a hat periodically, and he just goes with the flow. I think I’ll keep him. And keep knitting…

I am seeing fibre in a whole different light; the stash does not seem to be decreasing in size at all. I am currently sourcing out a larger loom- a 32″ rigid heddle loom of some variety. Then I want a tapestry loom, and maybe an inkle loom, and then…
Thanks for stopping by my blog, and for adding me to your list of blogs you read! This is the first time I’ve seen my blog on anyone’s list!
I enjoyed reading about you, your family and where you live. Thank you for visiting my blog.
Heh Judy, you have lots of friends in waiting over here at the Saskatoon Knitting Circle. I really hope to see you there one Sunday afternoon (2pm at MacKenzie Coles’s coffee). Check us out at http://www.saskatoonstitcher.wordpress.com (here’s hoping we make the list of blogs you read…and should visit)!!!
Love your written description of “how [you] got to where [you are] at.” Looks like you might have a writer hiding under all that yarn!
See you soon?
