We just saw on the news that a small cruise ship has run aground off the coast of Santorini in the Aegean Sea. Ordinarily this would be of little interest to me, except that Andy was supposed to be on that boat ship next week with the high school travel club. Oops. My first thought was “Omigod! What if they send the children home early?” You see, Mike and I are in serious training for Empty Nest Syndrome, and get few opportunities to practice. We’ve been anticipating the next nine days like a really great meal, and having Andy’s trip shortened would be like missing dessert. Anyway, the tour director assures me that the kids will be gone as long as we were promised they would be. (You’ll notice that I am not the least bit concerned about lost cultural opportunites for the children; it’s all about me.)
Since Andy has asked to take my camera with him and I have reluctantly agreed (his favourite shot last year on the trip to Italy was a picture of the Deutsche Bank sign, which he insists on pronouncing “Douche Bank”. When was it that they are supposed to grow up?) The upshot is that I’ll be posting sans pictures for the next week and half. It’s amazing how quickly I have gotten into the swing of this- losing my camera leaves me feeling almost panicky. I can’t imagine having a computer catastrophe!
I leave you with this:
and by the time the camera is back, I hope to have finished this sweater, as well as the black cardigan and the pink tank. Or else I may have bought some more wool and lurched off uncontrollably in another direction.
Later!
That sweater’s just zipping along! Gotta love big yarn. Except for the wrists – mine always get a little sore, but the Addi garden hoses make a big difference to that. (Seriously, the big Addis have a big hollow hose in place of a cable. Seems to work.)
Thank you for the dog picture of April 1st!
I’m liking the random purl sweater quite a bit. Will look forward to seeing a finished picture (and more dog pictures) as soon as your son returns from his trip.
